This view looks towards the Route 96 overpass.  The Southern-Tier Expressway runs in close proximity to the Susquehanna River, explaining the rather considerable overpass that is visible in the photo.

View looking westerly as the exit lane for Route 17C departs the westbound carriageway.  The right lane ends shortly beyond the Route 17C interchange (as is visible in the photo).  Notice that a bolt-on shield is used on the pull-through signage denoting Route 17.  Seemingly this was done so that the 17 shield could easily be switched to an Interstate 86 shield when the I-86 designation envelopes the Southern-Tier Expressway.

First overhead guide signage west of the I-81 interchange.  I was surprised to find that Route 17 was had been six laned for a considerable distance west of the I-81 interchange.  Judging by the apparent 'newness' of the light fixtures and crash-barriers, it seemed to me that this work had been completed in the early 2000s.
