Southern Terminus: R-175 (Boulevard Laurier) junction near Université Laval.

Northern Terminus: A-40/A-73 interchange.

Routing: A-740 is a short highway highway that runs north-south to the west of Downtown Quebec City.  The highway is 7.4km in length.

During a recent reconstruction project, a bus-only ramp was completed linking A-740 and Route 138.  Conventional vehicle access to Route 138 is provided via a standard interchange ahead.
