New York Route 19

Southern Terminus: Pennsylvania State Line, just to the South of Shongo, New York.

Northern Terminus: The Lake Ontario State Parkway at Sandy Harbour Beach.

Length: 108.62 miles

Counties: Allegany, Wyoming, Genesee, Steuben, Monroe

Routing: Route 19 begins its north south trek through New York State.  The highway generally follows the Genesee River Valley during its trek northerly.  Through Warsaw the Valley is quite steep, while in other instances it is much more shallow.  North of the Thruway, the route passes near the Greater Rochester area, and the highway finally terminates at an at-grade intersection with the Lake Ontario State Parkway.

US-20 is the principal US state highway running through New York State.  In this case, it is a little bit surprising that it runs so far south of the Greater Rochester Area.  Click here for Route US-20 images.
