Advanced exit signage located just west of the I-405 interchange. In urban areas of California it is typical to see signs such as this one at regular intervals to identify the next three interchanges along a freeway. |

Signage at the ramp from Highway 118 East to the 405 Freeway. Note the control city of Sacramento for northbound movements. Because the northern I-5 and 405 split is only about 2 miles north of the 118 Freeway, all Northbound freeway traffic from Highway 118-East is directed northerly along the 405. |

The westbound advanced signage for the 405 freeway is situated before the on-ramp from I-5 South has even merged with the Simi Valley Freeway. The 405 converges with Interstate 5 about two miles north of Highway 118. Note that the ramp from I-5 North that joins Highway 118 West does so from the left side of the road. This minimizes turbulence along the Simi Valley Freeway between the closely spaced Highway 405 (which departs from the right) and Interstate 5 interchanges. |

Signage that is unfortunately partially obstructed for the Interstate 5 interchange. Westbound Sacramento-bound traffic must use the Interstate 5 interchange. There is no ramp from Westbound Highway 118 to Interstate 405 North. |
